It's a rainy Saturday so I felt like making something fancy, by which I mean something with red wine. The beets are the Three-Orange Beets from
Fresh from the Vegetarian Slow Cooker, a very favourite cookbook of mine, and they are cooked in orange juice with a touch of marmalade.
The seitan is a basic recipe, simmered and sliced, and the sauce is the Red Wine Roux from
Veganomicon. I can't believe I had never made this sauce, it is delicious!!

The orange beets sound divine! I finally got my hands on Veganomicon; I'll have to try that roux.

I haven't been in blogdom much for a wee while, so I'm late in commenting on this... It looks so good! I don't have that slow cooker recipe book, durn it! But I do have Veganomican (of course!)I must try this. I LOVE beetroot!
I should really try to eat beets more often. They're one of those veggies that I often overlook.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and that you enjoy my food even if the astrology part wasn't your thing. Sometimes things can't be proven right or wrong, they're just feelings and thoughts, even if they're not always "prove-able" if that makes sense. Anyway your food looks great and comforting, have a good one!
that looks soooo good!
Can't say I'm a big fan of beats. They taste too soily for me. Seitan on the other hand... Yum!
